What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word meaning the "science of life". This tradition of natural medicine has been part of the culture and daily life in India for over 5000 years. In recent years, it has been gaining in recognition in Europe and the West. Perhaps you have heard of best-selling author and speaker, Deepak Chopra. His writing and seminars are based on Ayurvedic principles.
Unlike Western medicine, Ayurveda does not treat specific illness or diseases; instead, this holistic modality looks at the entire array of elements that make up an individual's life. As a result, patients undergoing Ayurvedic treatment will not leave with a long list of medications. Rather, they will learn how to achieve total mind-body health using the least invasive methods possible.
