Keralan Pancha Karma

Pancha Karma treatments are designed to first help rid the body of toxins, and then to help rebuild and rejuvenate it. Kerala is a state in southern India where many of these treatments originated. We are pleased to offer several authentic treatments including the following most popular styles:

Pizhichil: said to rejuvenate the nervous system, good for general weakness, circulatory problems, pain and stiffness of the joints. Medicated oil is poured over your body while simultaneously being rubbed into the body. 75 minute treatment followed with aromatherapy steam and hot shower. Total time: approximately 90 minutes. $130
Navarakizhi: considered the most important treatment, this is a rejuvenating technique which is said to help the body become stronger, more supple, remove sluggishness and improve metabolism. A special rice is cooked in milk and applied over the body causing the body to perspire. This is followed with Abhyanga massage, aromatherapy steam, and a hot shower. Total time: approximately 90 minutes. $130
Elakizhi: said to help relieve joint pain, especially backache, improve circulation, and lubricate joints. Fresh herbs are cooked in oil, packed into bags, and applied to the body. This is followed with Abhyanga massage, aromatherapy steam, and a hot shower. Total time: approximately 90 minutes. $130
Udavarthanam: dry herbal massage said to be excellent for skin conditions, weight loss, edema, and muscle/joint pain. This is followed by Abhyanga massage, aromatherapy steam, and a hot shower. Total time: approximately 90 minutes. $130
Shiro Dhara: said to help insomnia, decrease stress and mental fatigue, calm nerves, and gives the skin a healthy glow. Warm oil is poured on the forehead in one of the most divine, relaxing therapies one can experience. Followed by a head massage. Total time: approximately 1 hour. $110 Add aromatherapy steam and hot shower for $20

Other treatments may also be available. Although not required, because of the cumulative nature of Pancha Karma, it is advised that any treatment be done for 5 or more consecutive sessions.

This oleation and lubrication allows any imbalances, toxins, and excess fat and sugar to start flowing out of your body. Next is an Elakizhi herbal pack massage designed to heat your body and expand your srotas (body channels). With this expansion, the imbalances, toxins, and excess fat and sugar can flow to your digestive system to be expelled. Finally, you receive one Navarakizhi rice pack massage which helps your body rebuild and rejuvenate in a healthier manner. The plan also includes a Gandharavathasthali herbal decoction before each treatment, herbal supplements, ghee, and dietary suggestions to complement the process.
